Population-Level Prevalence, Determinants, and Barriers to HIV Testing Among Refugees in Uganda (RUPHIA)

Cross-sectional secondary analysis of RUPHIA 2021, the first population-representative bio-behavioural survey of Uganda's gazetted refugee settlements. Survey-weighted logistic regression, multinomial models and CART applied to 2,770 adults find 31.0% have never tested for HIV, that only 3.0% of never-tested health facility visitors were offered a test, and that most respondents citing low perceived risk met behavioural criteria for actual risk.

VLIR-UOS collaboration between Hasselt University and the University of Lubumbashi developing low-cost solar cookers from locally recycled materials. Prototypes reached roughly 50% of commercial cooker performance at 10% of production cost, with field testing in the DRC in July 2023.
